Water Meters – Frequently Asked Questions

Billing

Q: We plan to have our tenant sign up with EBS and be responsible for the water bill.  Our concern is that if, for some reason, a tenant becomes delinquent on the water bill, how are we, as homeowners, going to be notified?
A: We recommend that the bills are addressed to and the responsibility of the owners rather than the renters, to avoid situations like the one addressed above. We would suggest that this owner receive the bill in their name, sign up for e-bills, and, after making the tenant aware they will be responsible for the water/sewer, forward the email to the tenant for payment. However, the owner is ultimately responsible for seeing that the bill is paid each month.

Q: Can both homeowners and tenants have accounts with EBS?
A: There is also the option of both owners and renters having access to the individual account information on the EBS website so that both can track billing and payment information. Owners of multiple units will receive a username and password that will allow access to all of their units, while renters will only have access to their specific units. However, the owner is ultimately responsible for seeing that the bill is paid each month.

The HOA and management company will have a username and password that will allow access to all of the units and the reports associated with the property billing program.

Q: What options will I have for paying my water/sewer bill?
A: Customers can pay by check, make credit card payments online, or set up a monthly automated payment of their outstanding balance.
